In this episode of the Fly-Bottle podcast, Amirali Shams talks to Amir Khadem about his journey beginning from his academic education back in Iran and after migrating to Canada where he started his PhD in the University of Alberta in the department of comparative literature. In his PhD thesis entitled “Endemic Pains and Pandemic Traumas: The Narrative Construction of 

Public Memory in Iran, Palestine, and the United States“, Amir selected three different geographical regions as “Three Patterns of Trauma Emplotment” which all have an interesting narration of the Trauma. Finally, Amirali asked Amir about his other activities such as producing the popular podcast “Reading Ferdowsi”, his website and his role in “Naghzo Nik” e-journal.


Amir Khadem graduated in comparative literature from the University of Alberta in 2017. His popular podcast “Reading Ferdowsi” made him very famous among Iranian podcast listeners. He’s done numerous researches over history and literature of Iran which could be found online and in his published works. 


Amirali Shams graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2021. He has a passion in modern history and literature of Iran.
